Each year, we present the ORION Awards to innovators to recognize their achievements as champions of advanced technologies in research, teaching and learning. They are committed to driving innovation and next-generation research and education in Ontario.
Now is the time to be recognized for leveraging innovative technologies - such as collaboration tools and advanced networks - for accelerating research and education.
ORION is now accepting submissions and nominations from Ontario researchers and educators who are leading the way in leveraging advanced networks to improve their research outcomes or enhance teaching practices to boost student learning.

Expanding footprint to three new PoPs
ORION is adding three Ontario communities to the network's official Points of Presence (PoPs), the first extension of the network's core backbone since ORION's launch in 2003.
Chatham, Orillia and Kirkland Lake are the new locations being added to the network, growing ORION's PoPs from 22 to 25. It is part of the recently announced $6.5 million network upgrade, jointly funded by ORION and CANARIE.

The Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION) announced today that Anne Sado, president of Toronto’s George Brown College, has been elected chair of its board of directors.
TORONTO - The Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION) announced today that Anne Sado, president of Toronto's George Brown College, has been elected chair of its board of directors.

ORION participates in TEDx events at MaRS, Sheridan

Two ORION connected institutions play host this fall to some exciting TEDx events taking place around the GTA. The MaRS Centre in downtown Toronto will function as a remote viewing location for TEDxToronto on September 30 and will host TEDxYouth@Toronto on November 20. Sheridan College will be the venue for TEDxOakville taking place October 1.
